When I was working in a startup, I discovered a couple of other competitors who were quite a bit larger than we were, and were going after similar markets. But we didn't look at the fact that there were more competitors in the space than we anticipated as a setback. Instead we: 1. Performed an audit of their entire content funnel, marketing materials, advertisements and so on. 2. Analysed the results from the audit and 3. Incorporated the best aspects of their marketing into our own startup's marketing and advertising efforts. Doing this helped improve the KPIs of our startup as well. So the next time you find competitors for your startup, don't look at it as a negative but try to find out what you can incorporate into your own efforts. That's what we did, and it was one of our most successful initiatives.
