The first year or two are the most challenging in a startup journey. I had quit my full-time job and was surviving only on my savings. I spent a lot of time perfecting the MVP in the initial months, and by the time we had our first customer, it was 6 months. There were multiple times in those 6 months that I imagined quitting & going back to my full-time job. Thankfully, I persevered and have an operational business now. We still face a lot of challenges as we scale, but they are at least not survival challenges.
